ColonialWebb Contractors seeks a Manufacturing Operations Supervisor to oversee daily warehouse and shop floor activities, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency. You will lead Supervisors, Mechanics, Apprentices, and Helpers while aligning work with company policies and customer requirements in a fast-paced fabrication environment.

The ideal candidate has strong operational leadership, a track record of driving productivity, and experience with Lean initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience in warehouse or manufacturing operations.
  • Strong knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory control, and production workflows.
  • Lean principles and continuous improvement experience (5S, Kaizen).
  • Proficiency with technology including laptops, tablets, and smartphones.

Job description

ColonialWebb is looking for Manufacturing Operations Supervisor to oversee daily warehouse and operational activities while ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality, and efficiency. This role is responsible for leading warehouse and shop floor personnel including Supervisors, Mechanics, Apprentices, and Helpers while ensuring all work aligns with company policies, operational procedures, and customer requirements. The ideal candidate is a strong operational leader with experience managing teams in a fast-paced environment. This individual will drive productivity, support continuous improvement initiatives, and maintain a culture focused on safety, accountability, and operational excellence.

Location: 2820 Ackley Avenue Richmond, VA 23228. Environment: Fabrication Shop. Hours: 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM, M-F. Pay range $32-38/hr.

Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership

Supervise and coordinate daily warehouse and operational activities across assigned teams. Ensure all work processes align with company procedures, operational guidelines, and industry standards. Plan and manage workflow and operational goals while maintaining efficiency and minimizing downtime. Monitor team performance and address operational challenges to maintain productivity.

Quality & Continuous Improvement

Maintain high operational and product quality standards through routine inspections and process monitoring. Promote continuous improvement initiatives including Lean principles such as 5S, Kaizen, and standardized work practices. Identify and implement process improvements that enhance productivity and reduce operational waste.

Resource & Inventory Management

Manage workforce productivity, manpower allocation, and equipment utilization. Oversee inventory processes including receiving, storage, material availability, tracking, and loss prevention. Ensure tools, materials, and resources are available to support operational needs.

Safety & Compliance

Enforce company safety policies and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and internal safety procedures. Conduct regular safety meetings and support incident investigations and safety improvement initiatives. Promote a strong culture of safety awareness across the warehouse and operations team.

Team Leadership & Development

Ensure employees have the necessary skills, certifications, and training for their assigned responsibilities. Provide coaching, mentoring, and performance feedback to support employee development. Address performance issues when necessary while maintaining a positive and productive team environment. Maintain strong communication with leadership, internal teams, and operational partners.

Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience in warehouse or manufacturing operations.
  • Strong understanding of warehouse operations, inventory control, and production workflows.
  • Working knowledge of Lean operational principles including 5S and continuous improvement practices.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with solid analytical and administrative skills.
  • Experience managing manpower allocation and operational productivity.
  • Proficiency with modern technology including laptops, tablets, and smartphones.
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations and workplace safety standards.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in manufacturing, fabrication, or mechanical construction environments.
  • Certifications such as Lean Manufacturing, OSHA 10, or warehouse/logistics certifications.
  • Experience using ERP, WMS, or inventory management systems.
Work Environment

Fast-paced warehouse and manufacturing environment with exposure to industrial equipment, materials, and tools. This role requires the ability to walk, stand, and supervise operations on the warehouse floor for extended periods while interacting with production teams and leadership.
