Job summary

ColonialWebb in Richmond, VA is seeking a Sheet Metal Foreman to supervise mechanics, apprentices and helpers in installing and repairing sheet metal products. You will interpret drawings, direct crews, and ensure safety and quality on site.

Ideal candidates have 4+ years of industry experience, knowledge of IMC/SMACNA and OSHA 10, and strong leadership in a fast-paced construction environment. Competitive pay and comprehensive benefits are offered.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of four years of industry experience.
  • Knowledge of IMC, SMACNA and general HVAC systems.
  • OSHA 10-hour certification and knowledge of safety regulations.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, submittals and specifications.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain strict adherence to safety rules and procedures.
  • Direct installation activities and assign workers to duties; supervise a crew.
  • Inspect work in process and completed installations for conformance to specs.
  • Interpret specifications, blueprints and job orders for installation areas.
  • Review and release shop drawings and spool drawings for timely field installation.
  • Enforce company policies and safety regulations on site.
  • Adjust work sequences to meet construction schedules and crew capacity.
  • Study schedules and estimate worker-hour requirements for completion of jobs.

Sheet Metal Foreman - Construction

The primary responsibility of the Sheet Metal Foreman is supervising and coordinating activities of Mechanics, Apprentices, and Helpers engaged in assembling, installing, and repairing sheet metal products and equipment. The Foreman reports to the Assistant Superintendent or Superintendent.

A Day in the Life
  • Maintain strict adherence to all company safety rules, regulations, procedures and practices
  • Follow specific directions from project supervision and assign workers to specific duties; supervise and coordinate activities of assigned teammates
  • Inspect work (in process and completed) to ensure conformance to specifications
  • Direct installation of equipment and joints of duct such as slide and drive, TDF, snap lock, and other assemblies as required
  • Interpret specifications, blueprints, and job orders as needed for area of installation
  • Review and release CWC Shop Drawings and Spool Drawings for timely field installation
  • Interpret company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations
  • Establish and adjust work sequences to meet construction schedules, using knowledge of capacities of equipment and assigned personnel
  • Study schedules and estimate worker-hour requirements for completion of job
  • Maintain time and production records
  • Material handling as necessary
  • Teach, coach and provide direction to mechanics, apprentices and helpers to work safely, deliver quality, and work productivity
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
You Should Have
  • Possess a minimum of four years of industry experience
  • Possess knowledge of International Mechanical Code (IMC), SMACNA and general HVAC system
  • Possess OSHA 10-hour certification and knowledge OSHA safety regulations
  • Ability to demonstrate foresight and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to use current technology (i.e., laptop computer, tablet, smartphone, Microsoft Teams)
  • Ability to work within precise limits or standards of accuracy
  • Ability to install work from drawings, submittals and specifications
  • Ability to direct crews to install work safely with quality and efficiency
  • Ability to make decisions with information on hand
  • Ability to read and understand project related documents in the English language
  • Demonstrate knowledge of basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and fractions)
  • Ability to communicate and deal effectively with teammates in other trades
  • Ability to work easily and skillfully with hands
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude and willing to work in a team environment
  • Ability to work independently without direct supervision
  • Ability to maintain a sense of urgency and remain calm when working toward deadlines
