Job summary

Manassas Park City Library in Manassas Park, VA is seeking a full-time Supervisor Librarian to lead daily library operations, supervise Circulation and Programming teams, and partner with the Library Director on strategic planning. Ideal candidates have MLS/MLIS and several years of public library experience.

The role requires flexibility for evenings and weekends, strong customer service, and proficient technical skills. Competitive benefits accompany a full-time exempt position.

Qualifications

• ALA-Accredited MLS or MLIS degree required.
• Minimum of three (3) years of public library experience preferred.
• Bilingual ability preferred but not required.
• Experience tracking usage statistics, data collection, and report preparation.
• Accommodate a flexible schedule including weekdays, evenings, and weekends.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Excellent communication skills — both verbal and written.
• Excellent technical skills, including familiarity with Windows, Microsoft Suite, and knowledge of various technologies.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and provide leadership for day-to-day operations of the library.
• Act as the Person In-Charge (PIC) in the absence of the Library Director.
• Manage the Circulation and Programming teams including hiring, training, scheduling, and staff development.
• Oversee Library account receivables and expenses; payment of invoices, credit card coding, check requests, money handling, and collection acquisitions.
• Oversee collection maintenance and materials processing, including weeding and processing new/donated materials.
• Oversee maintenance of the Library’s website and social media accounts.
• Oversee the Library’s volunteer program.
• Assist with preparing correspondence and reports such as monthly statistics and annual reports.
