Job summary

Manassas Park City Library in Manassas Park, Virginia, seeks a full-time Supervisor Librarian to work with the Library Director and lead the Circulation and Programming teams. The role focuses on exceptional customer service, staff supervision, and community engagement.

The ideal candidate holds an ALA-Accredited MLS/MLIS, has 3+ years public library experience, and can manage acquisitions, statistics, and program development while maintaining privacy and policy standards.

Qualifications

• ALA-Accredited MLS or MLIS degree required.
• Minimum of three (3) years of public library experience preferred.
• Bilingual ability preferred but not required.
• Experience tracking usage statistics, data collection, and report preparation.
• Accommodate a flexible schedule including weekdays, evenings, and weekends.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Excellent communication skills—both verbal and written.
• Excellent technical skills, including familiarity with Windows, Microsoft Suite.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and provide leadership for day-to-day operations of the library.
• Act as the Person In-Charge (PIC) in the absence of the Library Director.
• Manage Circulation and Programming teams including hiring, training, scheduling, tasks, and staff development.
• Oversee accounts receivable/expenses; payment of invoices, credit cards, check requests, money handling, acquisitions.
• Oversee collection maintenance, weeding, processing, and evaluating the collection.
• Oversee maintenance of the Library’s website and social media accounts.
• Oversee the Library’s volunteer program.
• Assist with correspondence, reports, and statistics for monthly and annual state reports.
• Provide administrative support and policy reviews in collaboration with the Library Director.
• Communicate procedures clearly to staff and the public in person, online, and by phone.
• Respond to patron issues and enforce library policies.
• Maintain an attractive, organized library and assist with displays and programming.
