• Education in Horticulture or Landscape Design, or equivalent experience.
• Necessary licenses and certifications, including VA pesticide certification.

What You Get To Do

• Lead full-time and seasonal employees in field maintenance, installation, planning, and management of floral/landscape displays.
• Plan, develop, procure, and maintain landscape beds, manage plant and supply orders, equipment, and labor.
• Provide horticultural training and safety programs; maintain facilities, equipment, and vehicles.
• Support IPM activities, including scouting, recommending treatments, and record keeping, with current pesticide resources.
• Assist with planning, production, and maintenance of floral displays; train team members on pruning and watering techniques.
• Support park and departmental aesthetic and financial goals as directed by management.
• Assist in storm damage cleanup and snow removal as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

What You Need To Succeed

• Strong interpersonal and supervisory skills.
• Good written and oral communication skills.
• Attention to detail and a strong work ethic.
• Professional appearance and demeanor.
• Basic computer skills are a plus.
• Proficiency in operating loaders, tractors, forklifts, high reaches, walk-behind movers, and dump trucks.
• Ability to work outdoors in extreme heat and cold.
• Flexibility to work early mornings and weekends.

Education And Licensing Requirements

• Education in Horticulture, Landscape Design, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
• At least 4 years of professional horticulture experience, including supervisory roles; equivalent training and experience may be considered.
• Necessary licenses and certifications, including VA pesticide certification if required.
• Valid VA Driver’s License.
