What you get to do:

As the Assistant Costume Production Supervisor you will:

  • Supervises execution of all Park, Shows, and Events Costuming and Crafts including Puppetry, Make-up & Wigs, Bulk Specialty projects, and costume character production.
  • Liaisons with all Costume Designers during production of all new costume designs, including: drafts and patterns garments for construction, creates cut lists and executes cutting needs, tracks and distributes alterations, and oversees instruction and guidance of all projects.
  • Organizes and tracks all “fit” Show and Event costumes for project distribution.
  • Collaborates with Entertainment teams to achieve project goals and objectives; oversees and leads garment construction in accordance with fitting schedule.
  • Supervises and leads FT Specialists, FT Stitchers, and Variable Stitchers, to achieve production goals and objectives.
  • Monitors and communicates progress of production timelines to Costume Production Supervisor; advises on Daily Shop Tasks in accordance with schedule.
  • Communicates production questions and concerns to designer, throughout construction process.
  • Trains and develops FT and Variable Stitchers to enhance efficiencies and production timelines; ensures consistency and quality of garment construction.
  • Answers shop phone and oversees execution of venue needs, during daily Operation.
  • Reviews and compiles notes from Rehearsal and Show Reports; oversees proper communication and execution of notes.
  • Executes expert cutting and construction needs during high production.
  • Inform Costume Production Supervisor of all materials required to complete production and advises of replenishment when necessary.
  • Assists with hiring, development, and performance of all FT and Variable Stitchers.
  • Attend Costume Staff Meetings to provide updates on production progress and obstacles; advises on staffing shortages and concerns in accordance with departmental goals and objectives.

What it takes to succeed:

  • At least 18 years of age
  • High school diploma or equivalent, required
  • At least one year of professional or college-level experience in one of the following areas: theme park, stage, or live audio, film production, etc., required
  • At least six months previous experience in leadership related role, preferred
  • One year of theme park related experience, preferred
  • Possession of a valid state driver’s license and ability to obtain a company driver’s license
  • Ability to meet company driving guidelines
  • Proficient knowledge in one or more areas of theater craft (i.e., dance, performance arts/gymnastics and stage manager, etc.) and/or proficient knowledge in one or more areas of technical theater or live media productions (audio, video, lighting and stagehand)
  • Strong presentation skills including the ability to speak clearly and comfortably in front of large groups and in different environments; including, but not limited to, training classes
  • Able to positively interact with guests and co-workers of all ages, different ethnic/cultural backgrounds and/or language, and individuals with special needs
  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills
  • Have working knowledge of computer-based resources such as Microsoft Office
  • Working knowledge of park related programs. (i.e. Kronos, SAP, and Concur), preferred
  • Able to complete assigned projects in a timely and professional manner
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and maintain a positive and flexible attitude in an ever-changing and fast-paced work environment
  • Proficient organization and planning skills
  • Be able to lift, push, pull and/or carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Position engages in extensive walking and standing throughout entire work shift and climb/ascend heights, if needed
  • Perform the following physical activities: kneeling, squatting, bend floor-to waist/waist-to-overhead, reach overhead, simple grasp and fine hand manipulation tasks (use of tools/keyboard/writing)
  • Be able to work indoors and outdoors, in varying weather, to include extreme heat. Position may be exposed to fumes, dust, odors, and cold/heat temperature extremes
  • Perform cleaning duties, including use of cleaning chemicals
  • Work flexible schedules/hours based on business needs, to include opening, mid-, and closing shifts; nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Be flexible in work locations as placement will depend on business needs and career development opportunities
