Job summary

City of Hope is seeking a Food Service Lead Supervisor to oversee daily operations on City of Hope premises, ensuring quality, service and safety in our healthcare dining environment. The role supports management, coordinates food service activities, trains staff, and maintains high standards of cleanliness and patient/customer care.

Hospital experience and prior lead experience are preferred, with a high school diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day activities of subordinates and assign work as directed by management.

  • Ensure customer satisfaction in quality, service, and issue resolution.
  • Perform daily supervisory duties and assignments.
  • Orient and train employees; promote team development.
  • Attend allergy and foodborne illness in-service training and safety meetings.
  • Follow all policies, procedures, safety and infection control guidelines.
  • Maintain confidentiality and integrity.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

This role may work in any type of food location on City of Hope premises. This individual provides oversight at the direction of management to coordinate routine work activities of workers and/or service employees engaged in food operations. This individual will provide support to management in the daily oversight of key functions and employees during the normal course of business. The general responsibilities of the position include those listed below, but City of Hope may identify other responsibilities of the position.

As a successful candidate, you will:
  • Responsible for the oversight of day-to-day activities of subordinates and assigns responsibility for specific work or functional activities as directed by management. Maintains key control of operations and responsible for activities to ensure opening, closing and daily procedures are completed.
  • Assists in monitoring employee productivity and provides suggestions for increased service or productivity.
  • Serves as a working lead supervisor coordinating activities of workers or service employees engaged in food operations
  • Works with customers to ensure satisfaction in such areas as quality, service and problem resolution.
  • Performs day-to-day assignments in addition to supervision duties.
  • Responsible for orientation and training of employees. Promotes the development of the foodservice team.
  • Attends all allergy and foodborne illness in-service training. Participates in regular safety meetings, safety training and hazard assessments. Attends training programs (classroom and virtual) as designated.
  • Understands and follows all policies and procedures.
  • Assists in ensuring a safe working environment throughout the facility for all employees. Complies with all company safety and risk management policies and procedures and reports all accidents and injuries in a timely manner.
  • Follows established City of Hope and department policies, procedures, objectives, performance improvement, attendance, safety, environmental, and infection control guidelines, including adherence to the workplace Code of Conduct and Compliance Plan.
  • Practices a high level of integrity and honesty in maintaining confidentiality.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Your qualifications should include:
  • High School diploma, GED or equivalent experience.
  • Preferably:Food Service experience in a hospital/healthcare setting. Previous lead experience.
