Job summary

City of Hope, Inc. in California is seeking a Catering Service Organizer to manage catering requests and ensure superb customer service. You will be responsible for fulfilling and delivering catering orders, maintaining cleanliness, and assisting with food preparation.

This role will organize, set up and deliver requested catering services to specific requested location or conference room. Provide prompt and courteous service to all customers. Provide customers with efficient and attentive service while exceeding the customer’s expectations. The general responsibilities of the position include those listed below, but City of Hope may identify other responsibilities of the position.

As a successful candidate, you will:
  • Responsible for the fulfillment of client catering order requests.
    • Check the catering ordering website to review requested customer services, food and services needed, dates and times.
    • Distribute needed food preparation requirements to each food department in advance.
    • Organize each delivery timely, setting up all non‑perishable items needed in advance.
    • Deliver requested food and beverage to the delivery location, setting up all food and beverage in a professional appearance and logical manner, ensuring all condiments and service ware are available as needed.
    • Listen carefully to customers’ orders, explain drink and food items, and make menu recommendations.
    • Ensure all services are cleaned up at the end of the meeting or requested pick‑up time.
    • Ensure availability of any specialty linen, china and rental needs in advance.
    • Maintain organization of all daily and weekly services and associated needs and communications with customers.
    • May serve as a point of contact for the customers, booking catering, answering questions and planning for future service needs.
    • May be asked to respond to complaints regarding food or service.
  • Finalize catering invoices and billing pertaining to delivered services.
  • Maintain a clean and organized working environment and professional appearance.
  • May assist with stocking food inventory; carry and distribute supplies and equipment; assist others in the preparation of foods and proper storage; operate the dishwasher or assist with washing dishes, glassware, silverware, utensils, pots and pans.
  • Attend all allergy and foodborne illness in‑service training; participate in regular safety meetings, safety training and hazard assessments; attend training programs (classroom and virtual) as designated.
  • Comply with all company safety and risk management policies and procedures and report all accidents and injuries in a timely manner.
Your qualifications should include:
  • High School diploma, GED or equivalent experience.
  • 0 to 1 years of related work experience.
  • Current CDL Class C State (CA) Driver’s License.
  • Preferable: knowledge of basic operation of equipment and cash‑handling procedures preferred.
