Job summary

City of Hope is seeking a Culinary Services Representative to support hospital dining operations. You will greet patients and visitors, describe menu items, and process orders with accuracy while upholding safety and sanitation standards.

This full-time role requires cash handling, a ServSafe-minded mindset (not required), teamwork, strong communication, and a detail-oriented approach in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum: High School Diploma or equivalent; preferred: ServeSafe certification.
• Experience in Food & Beverage, Hospitality, or high-volume hospital cafeteria.
• Must be able to operate cash register and handle cash transactions.
• Strong customer service skills and ability to work as part of a team.
• Basic computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers, suggest menu items, and resolve concerns.
• Manage cash transactions and operate the cash register.
• Set up dining areas and assist with signage and food displays.
• Assist with dining room set-up, clearing, and resetting as needed.
• Ensure sanitation and hand hygiene, following ServSafe guidance where applicable.
• Maintain clean workstation and comply with pricing structures and policies.
• Record end-of-shift reporting and deposits, as required.

This is a Full-time position where you will work 8 hours between the hours of 6:30am - 6:30pm plus every other weekend.

Minimum Education Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent, preferred

Minimum Experience

• Preferred: A minimum of one year's experience in Food and Beverage, Hospitality, or a high-volume hospital cafeteria setting.

Required Licensure & Certifications

• ServeSafe is preferred, but not required

• Ensure a safe, sanitary, and comfortable environment coupled with an unparalleled level of customer service is paramount to guarantee a positive experience for all patients, caregivers, stakeholders, and guests.
• Responsibilities include managing all cash transactions for food items and maintaining as well as setting up the serving and dining areas.
• Assists with dining room set-up table clearing and resetting as needed. Works with appropriate departments to coordinate daily menu signage, food displays, guest special needs requests and requirements.
• Receives and greets customers, suggests, and describes available menu items, resolves customer concerns.
• Operates cash register for customers purchasing hot and cold food items adhering to established pricing structures and correct portion sizes to charge each customer appropriately. Follows all pricing structures and cash handling polices and guidelines and completes end of shift reporting and deposit.
• Ensures proper sanitation of entire workstation and area, hand hygiene, guest contact surfaces and as instructed by leadership using ServSafe as reference.
• Must possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Requires strong customer service skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team is essential.
• Basic computer knowledge, including proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite, is necessary.
• Must have strong attention to detail, as well as excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Flexibility and the ability to adapt to changing conditions in a fast-paced environment are required.
