Job summary

Colonial Downs Group is seeking a Facilities Supervisor to oversee EVS and Maintenance teams, ensuring brand standards and guest experience. You will hire, train, and develop staff, set department standards, and manage budgets and staffing for efficient operations.

The role requires five years in engineering or facility management with supervisory experience, knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and life-safety systems, and a valid racing license.

Qualifications

  • Five (5) years in engineering, facility management, janitorial services, or related field, with supervisory experience.
  • Must have experience in major mechanical systems, fire & life-safety equipment, grounds, parking, lighting, plumbing, electrical and related infrastructure.
  • Must obtain and maintain a valid racing license.
  • Must have a valid driver's license with a minimum of three (3) years driving history.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with hiring, training, development, and efficient management of the Facilities staff.
  • Communicates workloads and staff assignments, trains, motivates, and evaluates assigned staff.
  • Assists with establishing department standards, guidelines, and objectives and budgets.
  • Reviews EVS and Maintenance activities to optimize staffing and service.
  • Establishes preventative maintenance programs and supports renovations.
  • Performs routine inspections of all public areas.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs HVAC, plumbing, and other equipment as needed.
  • Supervises exterior building maintenance and curb appeal, including snow removal and painting.
  • Assigns, supervises, and verifies routine maintenance and operation of systems; inspects work quality.
  • Ensures OSHA and HazCom compliance, including MSD sheets.
  • Reviews guest complaints and acts accordingly.
  • Plans team meetings and participates in related information-sharing meetings.
  • Evaluates furniture, fixtures, décor; coordinates rehab projects.
  • Performs duties when staff are unavailable and resolves issues within scope.

JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for maintaining the integrity of the facility including all aspects of the Environmental Services (EVS) and maintenance teams to ensure that the company brand standards is met.

Compensation: $47,840.00 per year

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assists with the hiring, training, development, and efficient management of the Facilities staff.
  • Communicates effectively, both verbally and in writing, workloads and staff assignments as well as trains, motivates, and evaluates assigned staff.
  • Assists with establishing department standards, guidelines, and objectives, and assists in maintaining other administrative processes such as budget and staffing to ensure proper planning and efficient operation of assigned areas.
  • Reviews activities in EVS and Maintenance to gauge and improve staffing levels, working conditions and other matters which influence quality guest service and profitability.
  • Establishes preventative maintenance programs and maintain service records. Supports construction and renovations.
  • Responsible for performing routine inspections of all public areas.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs malfunctions in mechanical or electrical systems such as HVAC, plumbing, and other equipment throughout the property, as needed.
  • Supervises maintenance of the building exterior including curb appeal for snow removal and painting.
  • Assigns, supervises, and verifies completion of routine maintenance and operation of physical structure of the building, all mechanical, electrical, HVAC systems and any other related equipment which contributes to the safe and effective operation of the facility. Visually inspects quality of work and assigns staff and supervises outside contractors in tasks according to performance and productivity standards.
  • Ensures operation is OSHA and Hazcom compliant, including maintenance of departmental MSD Sheets.
  • Reviews guest complaints/concerns and takes appropriate action.
  • Plans and conducts team member meetings. Attends other related meetings to obtain and disseminate pertinent information.
  • Evaluates condition of furniture, fixtures, décor, etc., during continuous visual inspection of public areas. Makes recommendations and assists in the coordination and design of rehab projects.
  • Performs the duties of the facilities team members when staff is unavailable due to scheduling, time away, etc.
  • Resolves problems that are within the position's scope of authority and recommends courses of action to resolve problems that are beyond the scope of authority to the position's supervisor.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Five (5) years in engineering, facility management, janitorial services, or related field, with supervisory experience.
  • Must have experience in some or all of the following: major mechanical systems, fire & life-safety equipment, grounds, parking, lighting systems, plumbing, kitchen equipment, electrical, controls and any other systems and equipment comprising the physical structure and appurtenant infrastructure.
  • Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
  • Must obtain and maintain a valid racing license.
  • Must have a valid driver's license with a minimum of three (3) years driving history.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS
  • The Team Member will be required to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger reach, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.
  • The Team Member may be required to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • The Team Member may be required to work in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes, or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, and vibration.
  • The Team Member may be required to work long hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
  • The work environment may vary in levels of crowds, noise, flashing lights, and smoke, depending on the assigned station and guest volume.
