As the Supervisor, Electrical, you will:
  • Implement operational priorities established by leadership, and communicate work status, resource needs, elevate issues, and provide reports and updates when applicable.
  • Monitor work activity, service trends, and operational performance metrics, and recommend improvements to electrical services, workflow efficiency, and service delivery.
  • Coordinate electrical installations, inspections, troubleshooting, repairs, maintenance activities, and related work assignments across assigned staff and projects.
  • Review estimates, project information, and work plans for accuracy, timeliness, and alignment with assigned priorities.
  • Assign work, monitor staffing coverage, and adjust daily work assignments to support service needs, project schedules, and operational priorities.
  • Track service work, project activity, and assigned tasks to help ensure completion in alignment with scope, schedule, budget, quality, and service expectations.
  • Coordinate with campus departments and stakeholders to ensure electrical activities align with operational needs, project schedules, and institutional priorities.
  • Oversee campus electrical work, such as low voltage, fire alarm, card access, service work, and medium voltage utility-related activities, and ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with applicable codes and standards.
  • Participate in facilities condition assessments and provide input on electrical system needs, deficiencies, and priorities.
  • Identify operational needs and recommend improvements to procedures, equipment, technologies, and contracted services to enhance reliability, safety, and service quality.
  • Support and monitor compliance with safety, environmental, health, accessibility, electrical code, and other applicable standards and reinforce a culture of safety and accountability.
  • Assist with contract coordination, vendor communication, and review of contractor performance to help ensure performance aligns with specifications, budgets, and institutional standards.
  • Maintain collaborative relationships with campus stakeholders, communicate work priorities and project status, manage service expectations, and share feedback with leadership to support continuous improvement.
  • Promote and reinforce a people-centered culture that emphasizes safety, continuous learning, collaboration, customer service, community, and operational excellence.
  • Provide leadership and oversight of staff performance, such as setting goals, communicating expectations, delivering coaching and training, conducting evaluations, documenting performance, and recommending salary adjustments.

Minimum Required Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree, technical training, or equivalent experience in electrical systems, electrical technology, construction, maintenance, power distribution, controls, fire alarm systems, access control systems, building systems, or other related field of study.
  • 2+ years of experience coordinating installations, troubleshooting, repairs, inspections, or maintenance activities in electrical operations, construction, maintenance, utilities, or related facilities operations.
  • 2+ years of experience supervising, leading, assigning, or monitoring the work of staff, crews, contractors, or project teams.
  • Knowledge of electrical systems, power distribution, low voltage, fire alarm, access control, and related operations.
  • Knowledge of applicable codes, safety, and regulatory requirements related to electrical operations.
  • Ability to interpret work orders, estimates, blueprints, specifications, technical information, and other electrical documentation.
  • Ability to assign, coordinate, and monitor daily work activities to support service needs, project schedules, and operational priorities.
  • Skilled in identifying operational issues and recommending practical solutions to support safe, reliable, and efficient service delivery.
  • Supervisory skills that support effective oversight, workflow coordination, accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement.
  • Strong analytical thinking and reasoning skills.

  • State of Nebraska Journeyman Electrical License
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and eligible to drive on University business.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical technology, construction management, industrial technology, facilities management, engineering technology, or other related field of study, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience overseeing low voltage, fire alarm, card access, service work, and medium voltage utility-related activities.
  • Experience coordinating contractors, vendors, stakeholders, and multiple work priorities in support of operations.
  • Experience reviewing estimates, work plans, service requests, and project documentation.
  • Experience supporting compliance with applicable safety standards, electrical codes, and operational policies.
  • Experience using technology and systems for tracking, reporting, scheduling, communication, and operational efficiency.
  • Experience working in a higher education or similarly complex institutional environment.
  • Proficient utilizing work order systems, work tracking, project coordination, and preparing documentation.
  • Knowledge of University operational processes, budgeting practices, and/or institutional policies.
  • Project Management Professional ( PMP ) certification
  • State of Nebraska Contractors License
