Job summary

Illinois Cement Company LLC is seeking an experienced Principal Electrical Maintenance Supervisor to coordinate and schedule maintenance across plant, quarry and terminal equipment. The role involves managing overtime, vacations, and workloads, while developing PM programs and prioritizing repairs.

The position requires strong supervisory skills, CMMS proficiency, and expert knowledge of electrical distribution systems, motors, transformers, and PLCs.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in cement plant electrical maintenance or closely related industry.
• Experience with electrical maintenance work procedures, identification of spare parts, technical specifications or manuals. Experience reading and understanding P&IDs loop sheets, equipment drawings, and electrical diagrams.
• Must have good communication and organizational skills.
• Experience with supervision of electrical/technical personnel and strong people skills are desired for this position.
• Computer literate and familiar with CMMS systems including, creation and completion of work orders, entering periodic equipment electrical PM tasks and building historical data.
• Computer software proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Projects scheduling software preferred.
• Experience with root-cause failure analysis methods and good troubleshooting skills preferred.Knowledge in troubleshooting electrical distribution systems, AC/DC motors, transformers, and relay control systems.
• Experience with troubleshooting & programming PLC’s.
• Two- or four-year degree certificate in an electrical related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and schedule routine, daily and outage of electrical maintenance work for the plant Electricians.
• Manage the weekly scheduling and daily tracking of overtime for the Electricians.
• Manage the scheduling and required documentation for responsible personnel vacations and absenteeism.
• Evaluate work orders to help determine priorities for completion.
• Utilize work order and CMMS to gather accurate equipment history, parts usage, man-hours and cost associated with the electrical repairs of all plant, quarry, and terminal equipment.
• Work closely with Maintenance Planner to develop and coordinate execution of Preventative Maintenance program inspection tasks and schedules.
• Assist with creation of PM checklists for all major plant equipment.
• Analyze plant equipment PM inspection documents and determine repair/replacement needs.
• Create work orders for scheduling and execution of these repairs and submit completed work orders at conclusion of repair work.
• Assist with development of shutdown schedules for all major outages.
• Coordinate and execute small plant projects as assigned by the Electrical Superintendent to improve effective installation and minimize project costs.
• Provide training for electricians on new equipment and new techniques.
• Evaluate skill level of all Electricians and suggest/provide training necessary to upgrade skills.
• Manage and assist with development and documentation of JSA’s and safety meetings for the Electrical Department.
• Ensure that all responsible personnel comply with plant safety policies and procedures.
• Hold employees accountable for compliance with safety policies and rules.
• Work closely with other plant and quarry supervisors to accomplish a teamwork environment for effective and efficient execution of plant maintenance and labor requirements.
• Attend daily pant production and maintenance management meetings.
• Morning Production meeting: Announce job work plans for the day and confirm all coordination issues.
• Maintenance afternoon meeting: Announce work completed during the day, major jobs planned for the next day and coordinate any issues for the next day’s work plan.
• Manage and coordinate routine organization and cleaning of electrical shop, tools, shop equipment and the electrical truck/mobile equipment to maintain a clean and safe work environment and maintain equipment reliability.
• Manage task training to ensure that all electrical personnel can operate all necessary mobile and repair equipment required to perform maintenance work in a safe and effective manner.
• Become functional with basic computer software such as Microsoft Word and Excel. Be able to generate applicable memos and spreadsheets as required to provide adequate communication for the department.
• Learn and understand inventory system and work closely with Purchasing to ensure adequate parts availability for critical plant equipment.
• Work with production department to ensure plant equipment operates efficiently and reliably.
