Job Purpose

To be responsible for the safety, reliability, security and integrity of the overhead electric distribution system through the daily supervision and organization of operations personnel to complete job tasks while complying with Company and regulatory requirements. This role provides emergency response and supervision of personnel engaged in a 24-hour, 7 day per week operation.

Key Accountabilities

• Supervise a culturally diverse workforce through coaching, counseling and team building to ensure tasks are carried out in an efficient manner.
• Oversee the Overhead Electric operational workload of team to ensure allocated resources are fully utilized in order to deliver against agreed upon work plan and execute work activities within planned unit and budget cost.
• Ensure supervised Overhead Electric teams comply with safety standards, policies and processes in order to ensure a safe working environment and minimize risk for all staff.
• Review, ensure accuracy and execute the approval of area purchase orders, invoices and payroll activities.
• Execute all work tasks in compliance with all Company, Federal and State policy and regulatory requirements.
• Build good working relationships with internal & external customers and manage the day-to-day relationship with them in order to understand their requirements and deliver appropriate solutions within National Grid policies and processes.
• Monitor performance of allocated Overhead staff including issues relating to sickness, discipline and poor standards of work in order to ensure that work is performed efficiently and effectively.
• Act as the Overhead first point of contact for multiple internal stakeholders and outside agencies in order to provide support and ensure National Grid deliver against service level agreement.
• Promote and implement Overhead Electric best practices in order to ensure all work tasks achieve high productivity and low costs.
• Strong leadership, influencing, customer orientation and communication skills, providing the ability to promote team working and harmonious working between site staff, project teams and contractors.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 to 7 years of experience in overhead electric operations, utility operations, or a related field.
• Demonstrated supervisory experience leading and managing a workforce in a fast-paced operational environment.
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across all levels of the organization.
• Ability to analyze complex issues, make sound decisions, and effectively prioritize work in a dynamic operational environment.
• Ability to participate in an on-call rotation and provide off-hours support, including nights, weekends, overtime, and emergency response activities.
• Valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
• Technical expertise in overhead electric field operations, including experience leading crews engaged in construction, maintenance, and restoration activities.
• Knowledge of overhead electric distribution and transmission systems, safe work practices, and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Experience developing, implementing, and maintaining standard operating procedures for overhead electric work, including work performed on energized distribution and transmission facilities.
• Familiarity with work management, financial reporting, and performance-tracking systems, or the ability to quickly develop proficiency in these tools.
• Knowledge of company policies, procedures, and operational processes, with the ability to apply them effectively to support departmental objectives.
