The Department of Transportation is hiring a Supervisor Carpenter who will report to the Facilities Maintenance unit. The Supervisor Carpenter will supervise, direct, and be responsible for the work of Carpenters within industrial DOT properties for in-house construction projects.
Responsibilities
- Assigns and lays out jobs for carpenters and related workers.
- Supervises, directs, and inspects the work related to installation and replacement of flooring, doors, hardware, trim, window frames, sashes, partitions, etc.
- Estimates job requirements from plans, specifications, and field surveys.
- Requisitions materials and equipment.
- Supervises the operation of departmental carpentry shop(s).
- Supervises heavy and rough carpentry work for construction, maintenance, and repair projects such as shoring, bulkheads, scaffolds, dock facilities, sheds, and promenades.
- Keeps records and prepares reports.
- Ensures health and safety standards are maintained.
Minimum Qualifications
- Seven (7) years of recent, full-time, paid carpentry experience, with at least two (2) years in a supervisory role.
- Or a satisfactory equivalent.
