Job description

Supervising Lead Cook

Enjoy our beautiful campus nestled in the Redwood Forest while being responsible for supervising our food services and food items prepared in the kitchen, assuring meals are of excellent quality and presentation, ample quantity, served hot and on time.

Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities:

  1. Plan and prepare all menus, preparation, and execution of guest meals.
  2. Assist with menu planning, complying with all appropriate portion sizes, standards of quality, health guidelines.
  3. Maintain department policies and procedures.
  4. Ensure all personnel perform their job duties and follow all health and safety guidelines.
  5. Schedule kitchen staff in conjunction with group needs.
  6. Coordinate with dining room staff and other departments to ensure prompt and cheerful service to the guests and good plate appearance.
  7. Provide and support a healthy spiritual environment within the food service department by personal example.
  8. Maintain compliance with all applicable state and federal laws as they apply to food service.
  9. Stay current with trends and styles of the industry through attending seminars, food shows, culinary classes, and reading culinary literature.
  10. Assist as needed to cover absences due to illness, vacations, etc.
  11. Responsible for the maintenance, organization, cleanliness, and proper usage of the storage areas, coolers, and freezers.
  12. Assist with setup of coffee breaks, snacks, hospitality tables and coffee stations.
  13. Assist with guest’s special diets as needed.
  14. Assist with food service laundry, including uniform inventory.
  15. Maintain inventory control through ordering, practice good stewardship, and prevent waste.
  16. Participate in regular staff meetings, and prayer times.

Secondary Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain clean and orderly work and food storage areas.
  2. Fill out shift clean reports and temperature logs.
  3. Direct food service staff with dining room set up and meal service.
  4. All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Skills Required:

  1. Current California’s food handlers card.
  2. Adhere to KCG’s dress code and professional standard for personal grooming, appearance and conduct.
  3. A minimum of 1 year in a food preparation position preferred.
  4. Able to work well with co-workers.
  5. An eye for plate presentation.
  6. Satisfactory completion of a background investigation.
  7. Ability to provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
