CDCR - San Quentin State Prison in Marin County seeks a Supervising Case Records Technician to supervise Case Records Technicians and oversee the daily operations of the Records Office.

Under the supervision of the Correctional Case Records Supervisor, you will assign and review work, train staff, evaluate performance, ensure policy compliance, and liaise with the public, law enforcement, courts, and other government agencies. This is a permanent, full-time, in-office position.

Under the supervision of the Correctional Case Records Supervisor, the Supervising Case Records Technician (SCRT) supervises Case Records Technicians and oversees the daily operations of the Records Office. Responsibilities include assigning and reviewing work, staff training and cross-coverage, attendance, performance evaluations, probationary reports, and other supervisory duties. The SCRT also assists with workload planning, ensures compliance with policies and procedures, and serves as a liaison with the public, law enforcement, courts, and other government agencies.

Working Conditions

Effective July 1, 2025, the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) was implemented. PLP 2025 requires that each full-time employee receive a 3 percent reduction in pay in exchange for 5 hours of PLP 2025 leave credits monthly through June 2027. Salaries do not reflect the recent changes.

Candidates new to CDCR/CCHCS are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting, as well as a Tuberculosis test/evaluation prior to appointment, followed by department annual Tuberculosis testing/evaluation thereafter.

In the California state service, one year of experience performing the duties of a Case Records Technician, Range B.

Three years of clerical experience performing duties in the processing and maintaining of office records. (Experience in the California state service applied toward this requirement must include one year in a class with a level of responsibility not less than a Case Records Technician, Range B.).

Education: Either equivalent to completion of the 12th grade or completion of a business school curriculum.
