Job summary

Sekisui House U.S., Inc. seeks an experienced Superintendent to oversee day‑to‑day residential construction activities across a community or phase, ensuring schedule, quality, safety, and customer satisfaction.

You will supervise trade partners and field staff, coordinate inspections, enforce safety programs, and mentor a team of field personnel; travel between sites is expected. A high school diploma or GED is required, with 2+ years in residential construction; a bachelor’s degree or 6–8 years

  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in construction management or 6–8 years of equivalent experience.

Position Summary

This role is responsible for overseeing day‑to‑day residential construction activities within an assigned community or phase, ensuring homes are completed in accordance with company standards for schedule, quality, safety, and customer satisfaction. This role coordinates and supervises trade partners and field staff, manages workflow continuity, and addresses construction challenges proactively. This position works closely with internal teams, inspectors, and vendors, with increased accountability, autonomy, and influence.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Manage and oversee residential construction operations for assigned homes, phases, or communities, maintaining accountability for schedule, quality, safety, and customer satisfaction.
  • Direct and supervise trade partners and subcontractors, holding them accountable for performance, quality, safety, and adherence to scopes of work.
  • Inspect and approve completed work to ensure compliance with construction documents, company standards, and applicable building codes.
  • Enforce OSHA requirements, company safety programs, and environmental standards, taking corrective action as needed.
  • Coordinate and manage municipal inspections, approvals, and certificates of occupancy.
  • Proactively monitor construction progress, anticipate risks or delays, and adjust sequencing or resources to maintain production targets.
  • Own the accuracy and timeliness of jobsite documentation, schedules, inspection records, and reporting.
  • Lead homeowner orientations and directly resolve construction‑related issues in coordination with sales and customer relations.
  • Provide training and mentorship to Superintendent I staff and other field personnel.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant residential construction or field management experience at a Superintendent level.
Preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field; or 6‑8 years of equivalent experience.
  • Experience managing multiple homes or production schedules simultaneously.
Skills & Competencies
  • Working knowledge of residential construction methods and sequencing.
  • Ability to manage trade partners and coordinate multiple workstreams.
  • Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of construction safety practices and jobsite compliance.

Working Conditions

This position is primarily based in active residential construction sites with frequent exposure to outdoor conditions, uneven terrain, noise, and dust. Limited office or trailer‑based work is required for planning and documentation. Local travel between job sites and communities is expected.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods on construction sites.
  • Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and navigate uneven terrain.
  • Ability to bend, kneel, and reach during inspections.
  • Ability to lift and carry materials up to 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to visually inspect construction work and site conditions.
Automobile Allowance Requirement

This position is eligible for an automobile allowance. Candidates must maintain a valid driver’s license, personal vehicle, and automobile insurance meeting company coverage requirements. Proof of insurance will be required before employment.
