Job summary

Sekisui House U.S., Inc. seeks a Senior Superintendent to lead daily residential construction operations across assigned communities in Florida.

You will manage field trades, enforce safety standards, and ensure projects meet schedule, budget, and quality expectations. In this role you will mentor field staff, coordinate with subcontractors and inspectors, maintain site documentation, and communicate construction status to leadership.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in residential construction or related field operations.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree in construction management or engineering; or 9–11 years of equivalent experience.

Overview & Position Summary

This position leads and oversees day-to-day field operations for residential construction within assigned communities. Working independently under limited supervision, this role is accountable for delivering homes safely, on schedule, within budget parameters, and in alignment with company quality standards. The position serves as the primary field leader for assigned neighborhoods, providing technical expertise, resolving complex construction and personnel issues, and representing the company with trade partners, inspectors, and homeowners. The role also develops and mentors field staff to ensure consistent execution and operational excellence.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Lead and oversee daily residential construction operations across assigned neighborhoods, subdivisions, or multiple communities, ensuring delivery meets schedule, budget, quality, and safety standards.
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate all construction activities and trade partners, maintaining consistent production flow and adherence to approved scopes of work.
  • Maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, inspectors, municipal agencies, and homeowners.
  • Monitor construction progress and proactively resolve complex field, scheduling, quality, cost, and personnel issues impacting delivery or customer satisfaction.
  • Enforce construction documents, building codes, company standards, and safety requirements, including OSHA and environmental compliance.
  • Inspect work in progress and completed homes to ensure compliance with quality expectations and authorize acceptance of completed work.
  • Lead, train, mentor, and develop assistant superintendents, superintendents, and field staff to ensure consistent execution and team performance.
  • Communicate construction status, risks, and corrective actions to leadership while maintaining accurate jobsite documentation and records.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience

Required:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in residential construction or related field operations.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related discipline; or 9-11 years of equivalent experience.
  • Prior experience leading multiple homes, neighborhoods, or subdivisions.

Working Conditions

This position is primarily based in active residential construction sites and neighborhood environments. Work involves regular exposure to outdoor conditions, construction noise, and varying weather. Travel between job sites within the assigned market is required, with limited office-based work for planning and reporting.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods on construction sites
  • Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and navigate uneven terrain
  • Ability to bend, kneel, and reach during inspections
  • Ability to lift and carry materials up to 25 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to visually inspect construction work and site conditions
Automobile Allowance Requirement

This position is eligible for an automobile allowance. Candidates must maintain a valid driver's license, personal vehicle, and automobile insurance meeting company coverage requirements. Proof of insurance will be required before employment.
