Job description

North American Rail Solutions (NARS) is seeking an experienced Superintendent to lead a dynamic team of employees in a fast-growing, fast-paced work environment. This position ensures projects are delivered successfully and on time, collaborates with engineers and subcontractors to determine project needs, and oversees staff performance. The Superintendent follows quality standards and ensures the safety and security of the construction site. This role must be available to work full‑time (40 hrs/week) subject to overtime, on call (24/7), alternating shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Major Responsibilities
  • Enforce safety and quality control policies among employees and subcontractors to ensure the project runs smoothly and on schedule
  • Collaborate with engineers, subcontractors, supervisors and others to determine project needs
  • Plan construction processes
  • Maintain a daily diary of all activities and site conditions and manage the punch list and closeout process for the job
  • Provide front‑line supervision of crew members and give onsite feedback on their performance
  • Train other crew members upon hire and welcome the team
  • Monitor and report on project progress
  • Order the appropriate equipment and arrange for regular maintenance
  • Plan inspections and obtain construction permits from local authorities
  • Keep track of material stock and orders
  • Ensure the job site is safe, clean, and orderly
  • Resolve on‑site issues and emergencies
  • Comply with company and federal rules, policies, and procedures – wear required safety equipment, respond to and act on safety concerns
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Education Required
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Associate’s degree in construction, business management, or equivalent work experience
Work Experience Required
  • 3+ years of experience in a construction supervisory role
  • 5+ years of experience in railroad construction or heavy civil construction
  • Experience operating heavy machinery
Skills & Knowledge Required
