Job summary

Republic Masonry & Fencing, a division of the Millis Family of Companies, is seeking a Superintendent for local commercial construction projects in the Greater Houston area. This role oversees daily field operations, coordinates work in place, and ensures safety, schedule adherence, and quality per contract documents and submittals.

DOE-based base salary ranges reflect experience. The Superintendent will lead field teams, manage resources, communicate with stakeholders, and ensure regulatory

Qualifications

  • Five years or more of commercial Superintendent experience.
  • Experience managing subcontractors and crews.
  • Experience with hardscape, entry monuments, walls, and fencing.
  • Ability to work across teams in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and maintain project schedules with project managers to meet deadlines.
  • Allocate labor, materials, and equipment to maximize efficiency.
  • Implement quality control and conduct inspections for conformance.
  • Lead and motivate crews and subcontractors, setting deadlines.
  • Provide on-the-job training and ensure safety compliance.
  • Communicate with clients, architects, engineers, and subs on status.

Salary Context :

(DOE) Would be offering a base salary in the $75,000 to $100,000 range based on experience.

Summary

The Superintendent is responsible for managing daily field operations on commercial construction projects. This role is responsible for coordinating, verifying work in place, and ensuring construction is performed safely, on schedule, and in accordance with contract documents, submittals, and quality standards. This new team member will work on local jobs in and around the Greater Houston area.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Project Management
  • Planning & Scheduling: Develop and maintain project schedules in collaboration with project managers, ensuring timely completion of various phases of construction.
  • Resource Allocation : Manage the allocation of resources, including labor, materials, and equipment, to maximize efficiency and minimize delays.
  • Quality Control : Implement quality control measures to ensure that work meets specified standards, conducting inspections and facilitating necessary adjustments as needed.
Supervision & Leadership
  • Team Leadership: Supervise and motivate construction crews and subcontractors by assigning tasks, setting deadlines, and fostering a collaborative environment.
  • Training & Development: Provide guidance and on-the-job training for team members, promoting skill development and compliance with safety regulations.
  • Conflict Resolution: Address conflicts or issues that arise on the job site effectively, ensuring minimal disruption to project timelines.
Communication
  • Stakeholder Interaction: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, architects, engineers, and subcontractors, ensuring all parties are informed of project status and any developments.
  • Reporting: Prepare and present progress reports that detail project status, challenges faced, and plans for overcoming obstacles to stakeholders and upper management.
Safety & Compliance
  • Safety Management: Enforce adherence to safety protocols and regulations, conducting regular safety meetings and training sessions to promote a safe working environment
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all work is compliant with local, state, and federal regulations, including obtaining necessary permits.
Budget Management
  • Cost Control: Monitor budget expenditures and implement strategies to minimize costs without compromising quality.
  • Change Orders: Evaluate change orders, ensuring they are justified and properly documented, and informing stakeholders of any impacts on project budgets or schedules .
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
  • Five years or more of commercial Superintendent experience required for this role.
  • Must have experience managing subcontractors and crews.
  • Experience building or supervision of hardscape, entry monuments, walls, and fencing highly desired.
  • Works effectively across teams, trades, and departments to advance project goals.
  • Performs consistently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Maintains accuracy and quality across all work products.
  • Identifies issues early and drives practical, timely solutions.
  • Takes ownership of outcomes and follows through on commitments.
