Job summary

Shawmut Design and Construction in Boston is seeking a Project Superintendent to lead day-to-day field operations, ensuring safety, quality, and progress on complex projects. You will guide a team of subcontractors, coordinate with project leadership, and uphold strict site practices.

You will develop project strategies, monitor schedules and budgets, and maintain open communication with all stakeholders to keep projects on time and within scope.

Qualifications

• 3-5+ years experience as a Project Superintendent with a reputable General Contractor or Construction Manager.
• Experience in managing, training, and developing people.
• Project experience: Higher Education, MSBA, Life Science, Manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Lead all daily field operations to ensure site safety, construction progress, quality control, and a clean site.
• Develop a comprehensive understanding of project strategy and commitments, including financial goals, scheduling, logistics, phasing, milestones, and inspections.
• Maintain an updated and accurate project schedule that reflects changes and meets cost and time requirements.
• Demonstrate and maintain open dialogue with the project team regarding changes in work, conditions, subcontractor relations, and project direction.
• Promote positive relationships by dealing fairly with all subcontractors and vendors within the project team.

• Lead all daily field operations to ensure proper site safety, construction, progress, quality control, and a clean site.
• Develop a comprehensive understanding of project strategy and commitments, including financial goals, scheduling, logistics, phasing, milestones, and inspections.
• Maintain an updated and accurate project schedule that reflects the changes in project status and that meets the cost and time requirements of the project.
• Demonstrate and maintain effective and open dialogue with the project team regarding changes in work, job conditions, subcontractor relations, and any deviation in the direction of the project.
• Always promotes positive relationships by dealing expertly and fairly with all subcontractors and vendors while instilling this philosophy in the project team.

Qualifications

• 3-5+ years experience as a Project Superintendent with a reputable General Contractor or Construction Manager in both a union and non-union environment at a general contractor.
• Experience in managing, training, and developing people.
• Project experience: Higher Education, MSBA, Life Science, Manufacturing
• Ability to lead 1-3 smaller projects at a time
• Strong communication skills and a desire to grow with a growing organization

Salary Range Information

Boston Base Salary Range: $105,000 – $180,000 The range stated is specific to Boston. Placement within the listed range depends on many factors including, but not limited to years of experience, project size capability (for Construction & Field roles) and internal company equity.
