Job summary

Shawmut Design and Construction in Washington, DC is seeking a Project Superintendent with a passion for building to join our team. You will lead daily field operations, ensure site safety, manage schedules, and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors to deliver projects on time and within budget.

The ideal candidate has 3–5+ years of superintendent experience with GC/CM firms, experience in retail, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years as a Project Superintendent with a reputable GC/CM in union and non-union environments.
• Experience in managing, training, and developing people.
• Project experience: Retail; ability to lead 1–3 smaller projects at a time.
• Strong communication skills and a desire to grow with a growing organization.

Responsibilities

• Lead all daily field operations to ensure site safety, construction, progress, quality control, and a clean site.
• Develop understanding of project strategy, including financial goals, scheduling, logistics, phasing, milestones, and inspections.
• Maintain an updated project schedule reflecting changes and meeting cost/time requirements.
• Demonstrate/open dialogue with project team on changes in work, subcontractor relations, and deviations.
• Promote fair relationships with subcontractors and vendors and instill this in the team.

Responsibilities

We are currently hiring a Superintendent with a passion for building to join our Shawmut team. Ideally, this person is local to Washington DC for upcoming project work, and open to travel to future projects in the Mid-Atlantic region.

• Lead all daily field operations to ensure proper site safety, construction, progress, quality control, and a clean site.
• Develop a comprehensive understanding of project strategy and commitments, including financial goals, scheduling, logistics, phasing, milestones, and inspections.
• Maintain an updated and accurate project schedule that reflects the changes in project status and that meets the cost and time requirements of the project.
• Demonstrate and maintain effective and open dialogue with the project team regarding changes in work, job conditions, subcontractor relations, and any deviation in the direction of the project.
• Always promotes positive relationships by dealing expertly and fairly with all subcontractors and vendors while instilling this philosophy in the project team.

Salary Range Information

Washington DC Base Salary Range: $115,000 – $175,000. The range stated is specific to Washington DC. Placement within the listed range depends on many factors including, but not limited to years of experience, project size capability (for Construction & Field roles) and internal company equity.
