Job summary

IRCO is seeking Hunger Relief Support staff for SUN Community Schools in the Portland area. This on-call, hourly role supports pop-up food distributions, food access, and community engagement across district sites.

Responsibilities include lifting, following safety protocols, and welcoming families with dignity. Bilingual abilities are encouraged; background checks are required by the state, with flexible scheduling typical for this role.

Qualifications

• Must be 16 years of age or older (16–17 year olds may have restricted duties).
• Pass Oregon Department of Education background check.
• Bilingual applicants are encouraged to apply.
• Flexibility is required with changes on short notice.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Excellent multitasking and time management skills.

Responsibilities

• Set up pop-up food distributions and arrange supplies.
• Lift and carry up to 40 lbs; push/pull carts up to 100 lbs.
• Follow IRCO Hunger Relief food distribution procedures and food safety protocols.
• Welcoming, courteous interactions with clients and community members.
• Engage with families in a bilingual-friendly manner when possible.
• Complete timesheets and online training as required.
