Job summary

NiSource is seeking a Summer Substation Engineering - Civil Intern. You will join the engineering team to assist on projects, learn through hands-on tasks, and collaborate with staff and leaders on meaningful assignments. The 12-week program starts May 2027 in Merrillville, IN.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in ABET-accredited four-year Electrical or Civil Engineering program.
• Must have completed at least one year of undergraduate study.
• Able to work 40 hrs/week.
• Proficient with PC applications; experience with AutoCAD and MS Excel/Access preferred.
• Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Assist engineering staff on projects to meet utility facility needs.
• Evaluate, design, estimate, and provide project management for electric and gas facilities.
• Create job order sketches using AutoCAD.
• Perform field measurements and data collection.
• Assemble data to create job order estimates.
