Job summary

NiSource is seeking a Summer Communication Engineering Intern for a 12-week program in Merrillville, IN. You will work under engineering staff, contribute to projects, and gain exposure to utility facility design, data analysis, and basic project management.

The role emphasizes strong communication, data collection, AutoCad sketches, and field measurements. Candidates must be enrolled in an ABET-accredited engineering program and be eligible to work in the United States.

Qualifications

• Current student of an ABET-accredited four-year engineering program
• Must have completed at least one year of undergraduate study
• Ability to work 40 hrs/week
• Proficiency with PC applications and AutoCad & MS Excel & Access
• Proven communication skills
• Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship

Responsibilities

• Assist engineering staff on projects to meet utility facility needs
• Evaluate, design, estimate, and provide project management of electric and gas facilities
• Create job order sketches using AutoCad
• Perform field measurements
• Assemble data to create job order estimates
• Safety consciousness and professional conduct
