Job summary

NiSource seeks a Summer Communication Engineering Intern in Merrillville, IN for a 12-week program starting May 2027. You will work with engineers on projects to meet facility needs, learn data collection, sketch with AutoCad, and perform field measurements.

Qualifications

• Current student in an ABET-accredited four-year engineering program.
• Must have completed at least one year of undergraduate study.
• Ability to work 40 hrs/week.
• Proficiency with PC applications; strong AutoCad and MS Excel & Access skills.
• Proven communication skills; authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Assist engineering staff on projects to meet utility facility needs.
• Evaluate, design, estimate, and provide project management for electric and gas facilities of varying complexity.
• Perform field measurements and create job order sketches using AutoCad.
• Assemble data to support job order estimates and learn from experienced engineers.
