Job summary

HGA invites motivated students to join its Structural Engineering Internship for Summer 2027 across Minneapolis, Milwaukee, and Washington, DC. The 12-week program begins by June 1, 2027, with opportunities to start earlier based on school schedules.

Interns will engage in diverse projects, calculations, and site observations, gaining hands-on experience in a collaborative firm culture. We seek students pursuing Architectural or Civil Engineering with a Structural focus, in junior year or above,

Qualifications

Pursuing ABET-accredited Bachelor's or Master's in Architectural or Civil Engineering with Structural emphasis.
Junior year or higher in undergrad or graduate program.
Knowledge of structural analysis software.
Understanding of steel and reinforced concrete design principles.
Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Interest in collaborative, sustainable, and innovative design solutions.

Responsibilities

Gain exposure to a variety of structural engineering projects.
Perform structural engineering calculations and assist with building system design.
Research building code requirements and design considerations.
Analyze reports, drawings, specifications, testing results, and data.
Utilize structural analysis and design software to support project work.
Collaborate with engineers and multidisciplinary project teams.
Participate in site visits and construction observations.
