Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Civil Engineering from an ABET‑accredited program.
  • Interest in site development with focus on environmental, geotechnical, transportation, or water resources engineering.
  • Junior year or higher in undergrad or enrolled in graduate program.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare civil engineering plans and drawings using Civil 3D.
  • Perform stormwater calculations and analysis.
  • Use HydroCAD to support stormwater design efforts.
  • Research stormwater regulations, zoning, and site plan approval processes.
  • Review geotechnical reports and incorporate findings into designs.
  • Collaborate with project managers and engineers to support deliverables.
  • Attend construction site visits to observe field conditions and learn project implementation.

Summer 2027 - Civil Engineering Internship Opportunity at HGA!

Locations: Minneapolis, MN or Milwaukee, WI

Begin to build your future at HGA!We have an excellent opportunity for a college or graduate school student for a paid summer internship in summer of 2027. The summer internship is typically 12 weeks in length beginning on or before June 1, 2027, through mid-August (depending on your schedule).

What you'll do:

As a Civil Engineering Intern, you'll gain exposure to a wide variety of engineering experiences, including:

  • Preparing civil engineering plans and drawings using Civil 3D.
  • Performing stormwater management calculations and analysis.
  • Utilizing HydroCAD software to support stormwater design efforts.
  • Researching stormwater regulations, zoning requirements, and site plan approval processes.
  • Reviewing geotechnical reports and incorporating findings into project designs.
  • Collaborating with project managers, engineers, and other team members to support project deliverables.
  • Participating in construction site visits to gather information, observe field conditions, and gain insight into project implementation.
What you'll bring:
  • Currrentlly pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET‑accredited program.
  • Demonstrated interest in site development, with an emphasis in environmental, geotechnical, transportation, or water resources engineering.
  • Currently entering or completing your junior year or higher in an undergraduate program, or currently enrolled in a graduate program.
  • Knowledge of Civil 3D, street and utility design, hydrology, and HydroCAD software.
  • Familiarity with Revit
  • Strong analytical, communication, and teamwork skills, with a desire to learn in a collaborative environment.
  • A GPA of 3.0 or higher is preferred.
Salary Information:

The pay range listed aligns to the geography of the office for which this position is posted. Hourly Rate: $24.00/hour - $25/hour (Mid-West).
