Interns will engage in diverse projects, calculations, and site observations, gaining hands-on experience in a collaborative firm culture. We seek students pursuing Architectural or Civil Engineering with a Structural focus, in junior year or above,

Qualifications

  • Pursuing ABET-accredited Bachelor's or Master's in Architectural or Civil Engineering with Structural emphasis.
  • Junior year or higher in undergrad or graduate program.
  • Knowledge of structural analysis software.
  • Understanding of steel and reinforced concrete design principles.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Interest in collaborative, sustainable, and innovative design solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Gain exposure to a variety of structural engineering projects.
  • Perform structural engineering calculations and assist with building system design.
  • Research building code requirements and design considerations.
  • Analyze reports, drawings, specifications, testing results, and data.
  • Utilize structural analysis and design software to support project work.
  • Collaborate with engineers and multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Participate in site visits and construction observations.

Summer 2027 - Structural Engineering Internship Opportunity at HGA!

Locations: Minneapolis, MN; Milwaukee, WI; and Washington, DC

Begin to build your future at HGA!We have an excellent opportunity for a college or graduate school student for a paid summer internship in summer of 2027. The summer internship is typically 12 weeks in length beginning on or before June 1, 2027, through mid-August (depending on your schedule).

What you'll do:

As a Structural Engineering Intern, you'll gain exposure to a wide variety of engineering experiences, including:

  • Gain exposure to a variety of structural engineering projects and professional experiences.
  • Perform structural engineering calculations and assist with the design of building systems.
  • Research building code requirements and technical design considerations.
  • Analyze reports, drawings, specifications, testing results, and other project data.
  • Utilize structural analysis and design software to support project work.
  • Collaborate with engineers and multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Participate in site visits and construction observations to better understand project execution.
What you’ll bring:
  • Currently pursuing Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architectural Engineering or Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  • Currently in your junior year or above of an undergraduate program or enrolled in a graduate program.
  • Knowledge of structural analysis software.
  • Understanding of steel and reinforced concrete design principles.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Interest in collaborative, sustainable, and innovative design solutions.
Salary Information:

The pay range listed aligns to the geography of the office for which this position is posted. Hourly Rate: $24.00/hour - $25/hour (Mid-West) and $29/hour (Boston or Washington, DC).
