Job summary

Degenkolb Engineers invites current civil or structural engineering students to join a summer internship program across multiple California locations (Los Angeles, Oakland, Orange County, Sacramento, San Diego, San Francisco) plus Seattle, Detroit and Grand Rapids. You will work with experienced engineers on active projects, applying classroom concepts to real-world structural problems.

Qualifications

• Must be a continuing student through Fall 2027.
• Full-time Civil Engineering senior planning to pursue a Structural Engineering graduate program in Fall 2027.
• First-year Graduate student in multi-year Structural Engineering master’s or Ph.D. program.
• Completed Structural Analysis, Steel Design, Reinforced Concrete Design coursework by internship start date.
• Undergrad GPA ≥ 3.40; strong graduate performance where applicable.
• Interest in seismic analysis for West Coast offices or steel design for Michigan offices.
• Leadership roles or participation in engineering societies (ASCE, SEI) or related activities.
• US work authorization for any employer.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to active structural engineering projects.
• Build skills in structural analysis, design, and project delivery.
• Receive mentorship and candid feedback from experienced engineers.
• Attend firmwide presentations and cross-office collaboration.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams.
• Develop professional confidence through hands-on work.
