Job summary

Degenkolb Engineers invites rising civil/structural engineering students to join its summer internship program. Interns gain hands-on project exposure, work with experienced engineers, and explore seismic analysis opportunities across West Coast offices or steel design for Michigan locations.

Applicants must be continuing students through Fall 2027, with coursework in Structural Analysis, Steel Design, and Reinforced Concrete Design, and should be eligible to work in the United States.

Qualifications

• Must be a continuing student enrolled through Fall 2027 semester.
• Full-time Civil Engineering senior planning to transition to a Structural Engineering graduate program in Fall 2027.
• First-year Graduate student in multi-year Structural Engineering master’s or Ph.D. program.
• Completed coursework: Structural Analysis, Steel Design, Reinforced Concrete Design.
• Minimum undergraduate GPA 3.40; strong graduate coursework expected where applicable.
• Interest in seismic analysis for West Coast offices or steel design for Michigan offices.
• Leadership roles or active participation in ASCE/SEI or related activities.
• Work authorization to work in the United States for any employer.

Responsibilities

• Work with experienced engineers on active projects.
• Contribute to structural engineering tasks and project delivery.
• Learn from mentors, receive feedback, and develop professional confidence.
• Participate in a summer presentation series and collaborate across offices.
