Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) invites motivated students to participate in a summer program focused on signal processing, data fusion, and high-performance computing. You will work with engineers, physicists, mathematicians and computer scientists to advance sensor systems for national defense.

Ideal candidates are pursuing a technical degree with strong problem-solving abilities, a GPA of 3.0 or higher, and the ability to obtain interim Secret clearance by start date.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a degree in a technical field (EE/Engineering).
  • GPA ≥ 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication.

Responsibilities

  • Apply signal and data processing algorithms for detection, tracking and characterization of threats.
  • Develop and analyze advanced algorithms that fuse active, passive, multi-band and multi-static sensor data.
  • Optimize multi-sensor architectures by defining sensor integration, tasking and coordination for high-quality fused targeting info.
  • Apply AI/ML methods in sensing and in analysis of sensor data.
  • Use data science and statistics on large, multi-dimensional datasets.
  • Develop sensor signal processing and data fusion algorithms in HPC simulations.
