Job summary

Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) is seeking summer engineers, physicists, mathematicians and computer scientists to advance sensor systems defending national security. You will work on novel signal processing, data fusion, and AI/ML applications in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team.

Applicants should be pursuing an engineering or physics-related degree with strong analytical and communication skills, and be eligible for security clearances.

Qualifications

  • Strong problem solving and analytical abilities.
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation communication.
  • Ability to collaborate with colleagues from varied disciplines.
  • Eligibility to obtain Interim Secret clearance by start date and Secret clearance later.

Responsibilities

  • Apply signal processing and data fusion algorithms for detection and characterization of threats.
  • Fuse multi-sensor data from active, passive, multi-band, and multi-static sources.
  • Optimize sensor architectures and coordination to deliver high-quality targeting information.
  • Leverage AI/ML in sensing and data analysis to improve outcomes.
  • Analyze large, multi-dimensional datasets with statistical methods.
  • Develop sensor signal processing and data fusion algorithms in HPC environments.
