Job summary

WoodmenLife is seeking a Scrum Master Intern for a 10-week summer program in Omaha, NE. You will support the Agile team, facilitate ceremonies, and help with backlog management while gaining real-world insurance-industry experience and mentorship.

The role offers a hybrid work environment with opportunities to engage with leadership and interns. The program emphasizes learning Lean-Agile techniques, collaboration, and delivering value through structured sprints and planning activities.

Qualifications

• Sophomore, junior or senior in college with area of study in Business Administration, Project Management, Information Systems or related fields.
• Must have a 3.5 GPA or higher.
• Ability to work 38.75 hours per week.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and Agile tools (ADO, VSTS, Jira).
• Aptitude for S.T.A.R. customer service and collaboration.
• Passion for making an impact in local communities.

Responsibilities

• Gain broad exposure to the WoodmenLife organization by meeting weekly with the Internship Cohort and leaders at various levels.
• Summarize and present capstone presentation of the internship experience.
• Serve as a key member of the Agile intern team through the Scrum Master role.
• Facilitate Agile ceremonies such as Sprint Planning, Daily Stand-ups, Backlog Refinement, Reviews/Demos, Retrospectives.
• Participate in Scaled Agile activities such as PI Planning and cross-team coordination.
• Identify and resolve impediments and manage dependencies with a prioritized backlog.
• Coach team members on Agile principles, tools, and best practices.
• Use team metrics to identify improvement opportunities and guide performance.
• Assist with user story estimation and forecasting.
