Job summary

The Minnesota Star Tribune offers a 10-week summer reporting internship at our Minneapolis headquarters. College juniors, seniors and graduate students cover breaking news and write enterprise stories, with a stipend of $850 per week. Interns may apply for apprenticeships after the summer.

Interns work from the Star Tribune office, contribute under supervision of editors, and gain polished experience at a major-market newsroom with a focus on journalism and democracy.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication and writing skills.
• Ability to handle deadline pressure.
• Proficiency with web research tools and social media.
• Experience with data analysis and digital visualizations is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop their own story ideas and pursue assignments aggressively.
• Work closely with editors, photographers and reporters to produce substantive news stories.
• Maintain a valid driver’s license and be willing to work from the Star Tribune office.
