Job summary

The Minnesota Star Tribune offers a 10-week summer reporting internship at our Minneapolis headquarters. College juniors, seniors and graduate students cover breaking news and write enterprise stories, with a stipend of $850 per week. Interns may apply for apprenticeships after the summer.

Interns work from the Star Tribune office, contribute under supervision of editors, and gain polished experience at a major-market newsroom with a focus on journalism and democracy.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

We offer 10-week summer reporting internships at our headquarters in Minneapolis MN. We select talented, driven college juniors, seniors and graduate students who can cover breaking news, as well as write enterprise stories. We expect our interns to come to us with skill and leave with polish and invaluable experience from a major-market newsroom. Interns are paid $850 a week. Interns may be able to apply for any available apprenticeships at the completion of the summer.

Qualifications:

We select talented, driven college juniors, seniors and graduate students. Excellent communication and writing skills, flexibility and the ability to handle deadline pressure are all crucial in this job. We also value candidates who are proficient with web research tools, social media tools and InCopy or similar publishing software. Skills working with data, including analysis and building digital visualizations, are a plus.

Hourly Compensation:
