Job summary

MTech Mechanical offers a Project Engineer INTERN 13-week rotation in Westminster, CO. This hands-on summer program covers engineering, design, field operations, project management, commissioning, and closeout for commercial mechanical systems.

Interns collaborate with engineers, project teams, and field crews, visiting jobsites to see how decisions become installed HVAC and plumbing systems. Strong performance may lead to future opportunities.

Qualifications

• Current enrollment in a bachelor's degree program in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• Students entering their junior or senior year are preferred.
• Interest in commercial construction, building systems, mechanical design, field operations, or project management.
• A curious, proactive approach to learning and a willingness to ask thoughtful questions, take initiative, and follow through on commitments.
• Strong communication, organization, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and general computer applications.
• Ability and willingness to work in both professional office and active construction-site environments and to follow all safety requirements.
• Coursework or prior exposure to HVAC, plumbing, construction documents, Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Procore, or other construction technology is helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with submittals, drawings, requests for information, change documentation, equipment tracking, and project records.
• Support procurement, delivery coordination, and follow-up with vendors, subcontractors, and purchasing.
• Learn how project scope, schedule, budget, documentation, communication, and client commitments work together throughout construction.
• Work with engineering team to understand design-build and mechanical systems development.
• Shadow field teams to learn installation methods and coordination needs.
• Help with startup, commissioning, and closeout activities as project schedules allow.
• Attend jobsites regularly to understand safety, quality, and planning.
