OSF HealthCare offers a Summer Nurse Intern Program designed for nursing students to advance patient care skills under supervision. The intern reports to a Patient Care Manager and works with an RN partner who provides supervision while maintaining accountability for patient care.

The role focuses on basic nursing procedures suitable for the patient age group on the assigned unit, with responsibilities evolving as competencies are documented.

Qualifications

• Demonstrate knowledge of growth and development principles and patient needs.
• Completed a clinical rotation and within one year of nursing program completion.
• Ability to turn PC hardware on/off and use Windows; basic computer tasks with instruction; comfortable with learning new applications.
• Current BLS for Healthcare Provider (American Heart Association).
• Interpersonal skills to comfort patients and communicate with care team; prioritize workload.
