Job summary

OSF HealthCare is offering a Summer Intern Program for nursing students who will graduate in Fall/Winter 2027 or Spring 2028. The role involves assisting with patient care under the guidance of an RN partner and a Nurse Intern experience designed to develop clinical skills.

The position pays starting at $20.00 per hour and is an hourly, internship-level opportunity, with responsibilities and competencies increasing as training progresses.

Qualifications

• Provide patient care appropriate to the age of patients on assigned units.
• Demonstrate knowledge of growth, development, and psychosocial needs of patients.
• Within one year of completion of nursing program.
• Ability to use a computer and basic Windows tasks.
• Current BLS for Healthcare Provider (American Heart Association).
• Able to communicate effectively with patients, families, and other care providers.
• Demonstrate the ability to prioritize workload.
• GPA of at least 2.5.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic nursing procedures appropriate for the age/development of patients served on the unit.
• Works under the supervision of an RN partner who develops and supervises the student nurse intern’s experience.
• Assumes responsibility for care of assigned patients within scope of training and competency.
• Competencies will expand with experience and documented progress by the RN partner.
