Job summary

Westinghouse Electric Company is seeking a Safety Analysis Intern to join the Cranberry, PA facility for a paid full-time hybrid summer program (May–August 2027). You will report to the Safety Analysis Manager and contribute to modeling, analyses, and documentation of advanced reactor designs.

Responsibilities include using Python, Mathcad, Matlab, and ANSYS, coordinating with internal teams, planning work, and ensuring engineering calculations meet standards.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor's degree in mechanical, nuclear, or chemical engineering required.
• Completed Sophomore year of college required.
• Interest and skills related to thermal hydraulics and heat transfer.

Responsibilities

• Use software packages such as Python, Mathcad, Matlab, ANSYS or equivalent.
• Perform modeling and analysis of advanced reactor designs and develop technical documentation and presentations related to these calculations and analyses.
• Work with other internal departments on similar engineering level to obtain information necessary to perform work assignments.
• Plan and schedule work to meet assignment requirements.
• Evaluate standards, techniques, procedures and criteria for development of engineering design documents including calculations and specifications.
