Job summary

General Dynamics Electric Boat is offering a Summer 2027 Naval Architecture and Structural Design internship focused on submarine hulls and internal/external structures. Interns will join a design/build team to contribute to concept development, preliminary design, and construction support for Virginia and other class submarines.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled full-time at a college or university
• Minimum 8 weeks commitment during Summer 2027
• US citizenship and ability to pass drug screen and background check

Responsibilities

• Perform calculations supporting submarine structures
• Assist design development from concept through detail design and repair
• Support development of 3D models or 2D drawings for fabrication
• Perform static and dynamic finite element analyses
• Analyze sub movements, hydrodynamics, ballast control and hydrostatics
