Job summary

Seametrics is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Intern for a 12-week summer internship in Kent, WA. You will support projects to improve manufacturing processes, product quality, safety, and efficiency under experienced mentors.

You will gain hands-on experience and exposure to Lean and Kaizen activities, with opportunities across engineering and operations. The role emphasizes collaboration across teams, development of work instructions, and involvement in continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with manufacturing, assembly, machining, or related technical projects.
• Familiarity with CAD software or manufacturing-related applications.
• Problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Organizational skills and ability to complete assigned tasks.
• Familiarity with manufacturing processes, materials, and production equipment.
• Ability to prepare clear procedures and work instructions using established formats.

Responsibilities

• Process Design and Improvement: Assist with evaluating manufacturing processes and identifying improvement opportunities.
• Quality Control and Assurance: Assist engineering and quality personnel with process trials, testing, and documentation of proposed changes.
• Equipment Selection and Specification: Assist with evaluating tools, fixtures, equipment, and manufacturing methods.
• Cost Analysis and Budgeting: Assist with basic cost analysis and identify potential savings from process improvements.
• Automation and Technology Integration: Assist with evaluating automation and technology options for assigned manufacturing projects.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with engineering, production, and quality personnel to support assigned project tasks.
• Material Review Support: Assist with collecting and documenting information on nonconforming products for review by authorized personnel.
