Job summary

You will learn market dynamics, carrier negotiation strategies, and the tools used to deliver efficient solutions, while helping establish a carrier base and maintain service levels. This internship is open to undergraduates and graduates, with preference for juniors and seniors.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in good standing at an accredited community college, college or university.
• Must be able to work 40 hours a week during the summer.

Responsibilities

• Gain exposure and understanding of the transportation industry
• Become involved and participate in daily transportation brokerage activities; verify carrier authenticity, maintain accurate shipment records, and monitor freight movement to uphold service expectations
• Build an understanding of market trends, pricing strategies, and capacity challenges that support carrier negotiations and contribute to revenue and margin goals
• Observe and practice serving as a liaison between internal stakeholders and carriers: gain competence in how service failures are proactively communicated to minimize cost and operational inefficiencies while providing best-in-class service
• Learn about the technology and tools J.B. Hunt leverages to streamline workflows, enable carrier access to load management, and promote efficiency
