Job summary

The ACLU seeks a Summer Legal Intern in the ImmigrantRights Project of the ACLU's National office. This position may be remote or hybrid and can be based in New York. Matriculated U.S. law students based in the U.S. for the duration of the internship are encouraged to apply.

The intern will work closely with attorneys on impact litigation and advocacy, gaining exposure to case development, research, and public education materials across jurisdictions.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in a U.S. law school and on track to complete at least one year of study before internship.
• Legal research and writing skills are essential.
• Strong written and verbal communication and ability to work with teams.

Responsibilities

• Draft memoranda, affidavits, and briefs.
• Conduct legal and policy research.
• Identify prospects for new litigation and assist with case development.
• Prepare materials for public education and policy analysis.
• Track and analyze bills and legislative developments.
