Job description

Position: Summer Laborer

Ash Grove Cement, a CRH company, provides Portland and masonry cements to help build the foundation and infrastructure for the world around us. We ship millions of tons of cement from our plants and network of terminals located across North America. Join our team and help Ash Grove build America.

Reports to: Yard Supervisor

Shift: Monday to Friday, 8am-4pm (subject to change)

Pay: $23.64 (this is a collective bargaining position)

Summary:

The Summer Laborer performs general clean-up, labor responsibilities, and material handling duties, adhering to all safety policies and regulations.

What you’ll be contributing:

• Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines.
• Perform general clean-up, housekeeping, and landscaping using hand tools such as shovels, brooms, chipping hammers, and pavement breakers.
• Clean plant equipment, buildings, and grounds, including floors and belt conveyors.
• Assist with plant repair projects and maintain clean, organized work areas and equipment.
• Record and maintain documentation related to job activities.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Preferred: 3 years of experience in a similar role or related industry.
• Must be enrolled in college.
• Ability to read, write, and understand warning labels, instructions, and signs.
• Willingness to learn; training provided.
• Ability to take initiative, demonstrate commitment to quality, and be thorough and dependable.
• Ability to make decisions and solve problems with attention to detail.
• Ability to safely operate tools and machinery.
• Follow instructions, policies, and procedures.

Work Environment:

Work is performed in a shop environment and outdoors, with exposure to cement dust, heat, cold, noise, and weather conditions. May involve working at heights up to 250 feet and operating mobile equipment, which can cause jarring and vibratory effects.
