Job summary

Hawaiian Electric offers a summer internship program that provides hands-on experience on professional projects. Interns are mentored by employees committed to developing technical skills and exploring future opportunities. An opportunity to present results to management is part of the program.

Participants will work on System Operations projects, using PSSE and Synergi, and learn about generation scheduling and renewables balancing. A dedicated mentor supports the intern throughout the session.

Qualifications

• Must be a current, active student at a post-secondary school (college or community college).
• Must be in good academic standing.
• Must be attending school Fall 2027.
• Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0.
• Must be studying a degree in the area of Electrical Engineering.
• For Summer 2027, we will accept applications from students whose expected graduation date is December 2027 or later.

Responsibilities

• Intern will work on projects in System Operations.
• Learn modeling software including PSSE and Synergi.
• Participate in cross-functional activities and present deliverables at end of session.
