Job summary

Hawaiian Electric is offering a Summer Internship Program designed to provide hands-on, project-based learning. Interns are mentored by experienced employees and gain exposure to professional-level projects while exploring future career opportunities within the company.

Interns are assigned a dedicated mentor, participate in cross-functional activities, and present their deliverables to management at the end of the session.

Qualifications

• Must be a current, active student at a post-secondary school (college or community college).
• Must be in good academic standing.
• Must be attending school Fall 2027.
• Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0.
• Must be studying a degree in Environmental Safety and Health, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, Chemistry or Fire Science.
• For Summer 2027, we will accept applications from students whose expected graduation date is December 2027 or later.
• Official digital copy of your transcript is required; transcripts must come directly from your institution's Registrar and be addressed to [e-mail].

Responsibilities

• Interns are coached and mentored by Hawaiian Electric employees on professional level projects.
• Interns will research and execute an objective-based project assigned to them.
• Interns will participate in cross-functional activities to learn about life as part of the Hawaiian Electric 'ohana.
• Interns will present their project deliverables to members of Hawaiian Electric's management team at the end of the session.
