Job summary

Landmark Builders in Columbia, SC invites a Summer Intern to join our hands-on internship program. You will rotate between active construction sites and the home office, learning from Project Managers, Superintendents, and field personnel while contributing to real project work.

The role emphasizes exposure to the full project lifecycle, scheduling, coordination, and field supervision, with a path toward potential full-time opportunities after graduation.

Qualifications

  • Current enrollment in a Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related degree program.
  • Familiarity with construction software (Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project) is a plus but not required.
  • Ability to travel to local project sites as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with daily construction reports, project documentation, and record-keeping.
  • Participating in quantity takeoffs, pricing, and procurement of materials.
  • Helping prepare and implement two‑week look‑ahead schedules.
  • Assisting in the submittal and RFI processes.
  • Supporting weekly subcontractor progress meetings and owner/architect meetings, including capturing meeting minutes.

Job description

Landmark Builders is seeking a Summer Intern for its office in Columbia, South Carolina. The Summer Internship Program is designed to give college students hands‑on experience in commercial construction and is the first step toward a rewarding career as a Project Manager or Project Superintendent. Interns rotate between active construction sites and the home office, with most time spent in the field, learning alongside experienced Project Managers, Superintendents, and field personnel while contributing to real project work. Many former interns have gone on to launch their careers at Landmark, building on the skills and relationships developed through this program.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Project Support & Documentation
    • Assisting with daily construction reports, project documentation, and record‑keeping.
    • Participating in quantity takeoffs, pricing, and procurement of materials.
    • Helping prepare and implement two‑week look‑ahead schedules.
    • Assisting in the submittal and RFI (Request for Information) processes.
  • Field & Team Collaboration
    • Supporting weekly subcontractor progress meetings and owner/architect meetings, including capturing meeting minutes as needed.
    • Contributing to quality control and safety inspections, ensuring compliance with Landmark standards.
    • Performing occasional hands‑on field work and general labor to gain practical understanding of site operations.
    • Maintaining open communication with Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, and other team members to keep projects on track.

  • Exposure to the full construction project lifecycle—from pre‑construction to close‑out.
  • Practical skills in project scheduling, subcontractor coordination, and field supervision.
  • Experience with construction technology, reporting tools, and quality/safety processes.

Qualifications:
  • Experience & Technical Knowledge
    • Current enrollment in a Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related degree program.
