Job summary

United Grain Corporation in Vancouver, WA offers an internship in the grain industry. This program provides a structured schedule, mentorship, and exposure to origination, negotiation, logistics, and delivery of purchased grain from country elevators to export terminals.

You will work closely with Merchandising, Logistics, and Elevator staff to gain a full spectrum of the business while developing Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills and building professional relationships.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a four-year degree in agriculture or business is required.
• College sophomore to rising senior with GPA 3.0+.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to support a team.

Responsibilities

• Gain exposure to grain origination, negotiation, and contracting.
• Learn logistics management and delivery of grain to export terminals.
• Collaborate with Merchandising and Logistics staff for project learning.
• Receive mentorship and leadership exposure throughout the internship.

Job Location: Corporate - Vancouver, WA 98660, Position Type: Internship, Salary Range: $16.64 - $24.43 Hourly, Job Shift: Day, Job Category: Entry Level, This position is an opportunity for college students to seek knowledge and experience in the Grain Industry. This program will include a structured work schedule, exposure to leadership, a mentor and learning opportunities. Exposure to the origination of grains and oilseeds, purchase negotiation and contracting, logistics management, and delivery of purchased grain from the country elevators to the export terminal. Will evaluate how marketing plans are created with producers utilizing UGC marketing tools and advisory services via the Profit Partner Program. This opportunity is supported by and with regular communications with Merchandising staff, Logistics Managers, Elevator Managers so that a full spectrum of the business is presented.

Qualifications

• Working on a four-year degree in agriculture or business is required but equivalent work experience and education will be considered.


• Students must be a college sophomore, junior or rising senior at an accredited college/university and have a 3.0 or higher GPA.


• Proven interpersonal skills; must support a team-oriented approach within the immediate facility as well as for United Grain Corporation.


• Ability to communicate and work effectively on a daily basis.


• Ability to take direction and receive feedback.


• Ability to create Word, Excel, and PowerPoint documents.
