Job summary

Baird, Hampton & Brown is seeking a temporary Electrical Intern in Fort Worth, TX this summer. You’ll learn essential engineering skills from an established team of engineers and gain exposure to projects in private and public sectors.

Responsibilities include learning to design lighting and electrical distribution, assisting with cost estimates, and attending site visits and meetings to represent electrical interests.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Excellent interpersonal & communication skills. Connections are a critical part of how we work.

Responsibilities

• Learn to design lighting systems and lighting control systems to comply with energy codes.
• Learn to design electrical distribution systems, starting from the utility source to the customer panelboards and then to receptacles and equipment loads.
• Assist in cost estimate and specification preparations.
• Accompany engineers on-site visits to document existing electrical installations and identify the impact on planned renovation.
• Attend site visits during construction to confirm the installation meets the contract documents.
• Attend client meetings and represent the electrical interests of the firm

Education

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering (ABET-accredited)
